2008 Phillips 66 Mountain West Conference Baseball Championship To Be Televised Live on The Mtn.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -
For the second consecutive year, the entire Phillips 66 Mountain West Conference Baseball Championship will be televised live, with The Mtn. - MountainWest Sports Network and CBS College Sports (CBS C) providing the coverage. All 10 of the tournament games will be shown live on The Mtn., with the championship game to be broadcast to a national audience via same-day tape delay on CBS C, Friday, May 23, at 10:30 p.m. CT. The 'If Necessary" contest will also be shown via same-day tape delay on CBS C, Saturday, May 24, at 7 p.m. CT. The 2008 Phillips 66 MWC Baseball Championship will be held May 20-24 at Lupton Stadium on the campus of TCU.
To supplement the television coverage, live audio from institutional radio broadcasts will be available on the MWC Web site, along with live stats. To access both the live audio and live stats, go to www.TheMWC.com.

James Bates will call the play-by-play, while Todd Christensen and Roger Bailey will be the color analysts. Bates, a lead play-by-play broadcaster for The Mtn., was an All-Southeastern Conference linebacker at the University of Florida and captain of the Gators' 1996 national championship football team. He has a wide range of sports broadcasting experience on VERSUS, SPIKE, SUN SPORTS, ESPN, TNN, Speed and CSTV. Bates produces and hosts The James Bates Show which airs on The Mtn.
Christensen was a standout tight end at BYU before launching a successful NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys and the Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders, leading the league in total receptions in 1983 and 1986. Off the field he has worked as a broadcaster for ESPN and NBC, covering two Super Bowls, the Olympics, national college championships and more than forty college bowl games. He has received two Emmy nominations for his work.
Bailey brings more than 15 years of experience in the game as a former MLB pitcher and a Colorado Rockies Advance Scout. As a professional athlete, Bailey played for the Colorado Rockies and Tampa Bay Devil Rays. He earned numerous accolades for the Rockies, being named 1995 Rocky Mountain News Rookie of the Year and the 1997 Rocky Mountain News Pitcher of the Year. In addition to his playing experience, Bailey has hosted the sports radio show "Drive Time Sports" on Denver's 760 The Zone.
