Women's Golfer of the Month - February TCU's Derrey honored
March 4, 2008 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - TCU sophomore Valentine Derrey has been selected the Mountain West Conference Women's Golfer of the Month for February. Derrey, a Paris, France, native, earned her third honor this year after capturing two top-10 finishes in as many chances, recording a scoring average of 72.5 over six rounds last month. She began the month with a ninth-place finish at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge Feb. 11-13, shooting a six-over-par 219 (70-73-76) on the 5,912-yard Palos Verdes Golf Course in Palos Verdes, Calif. At the Lady Puerto Rico Classic Feb. 24-26, Derrey finished fifth individually with an even-par 216 (71-71-74) on the 6,168-yard Coco Beach Golf Course in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She helped the Horned Frogs to a third-place team finish among a total field of 10 teams, including seven top-25 programs. Derrey, who is currently ranked No. 14 in the country, leads the MWC in stroke average (72.6) and is a 2007 All-Mountain West Conference player.
