Last Week's Recap
The Mountain West went 16-17 last week, while facing 19 ranked opponents. San Diego State earned wins over #18/#19 Washington and #14/#18 DePaul. Colorado State also picked up a win over a nationally-ranked team in #12/#13 Northwestern. BYU posted a 4-1 mark on the week, falling only to fifth-ranked Stanford. New Mexico went 1-3 at the Judy Garman Classic in Fullerton, Calif., while UNLV was 0-6 at the same tournament. Utah also competed in Fullerton, recording going 2-3 with wins over nationally-ranked DePaul and Illinois. Overall, the MWC is 111-77-1 in non-conference play this season.

San Diego State continues to be ranked in the USA Today/NFCA poll at No. 25 and the ESPN.com/USA Collegiate Softball poll at No. 22 this week after going 4-1 at the Judy Garman Classic.

BYU
BYU heads to Cedar City for a doubleheader against Southern Utah this week...The Cougars took two eight-run rule wins in their home-opening series, shutting out South Dakota State, 8-0, before defeating Utah State, 15-4...Against Utah State the Cougars recorded 15 runs, the most all season...The Cougars went 4-1 at the Stanford Invitational II, with their only loss against No. 5 Stanford...Freshman Caschjen Davis hit a walkoff homerun against East Carolina, the first of the season for the Cougars...Senior Daniela Snow recorded a career-high six RBI against Utah State, with a two-RBI homer, single and double, just a triple shy of the cycle.

Colorado State
The Rams hold the MWC's best team batting average with a .302 and also boast the highest slugging percentage (.506)...Five Rams (Julia Kloppe, Caitlan Stem, Lauren Cusick, Ashley Munoz, Allison Majam) are currently batting over .300 with 67 percent (86 of 128) of the team's RBI...The Rams went 3-3 last weekend in the Bank of Hawaii Invitational with a win over No. 12 Northwestern...Sophomore pitcher Rebecca Penland earned two wins, improving to 5-2 on the season, while recording a 1.93 ERA...Overall on the season, senior Lauren Cusick is batting .385, which ranks fifth in the MWC...She has more doubles than any other MWC player (12) and is tied for first place with 11 home runs...With 23 games left this season, Cusick is on pace for 20 home runs in 2008 and 38 career home runs at Colorado State...The current CSU single-season record is held by sophomore Ashley Munoz who hit 14 last season while the career record is held by former Ram Brittany Huerta, who hit 33 in her career at Colorado State.

New Mexico
New Mexico went 1-3 last weekend at the Judi Garman Classic...The Lobos faced two nationally-ranked opponents in Fullerton, Calif., including No. 1 Arizona State and No. 20 Long Beach State...UNM softball travels to Texas this week to battle UT-San Antonio and Texas State...Thursday will be the fourth meeting all-time between UTSA and New Mexico...The Roadrunners have won two of the three games, but UNM won the last meeting on Feb. 20, 2005, 4-3...The Lobos have never played Texas State...The Lobos are hitting .266 as a team and have three players hitting over .300...Freshman Gabriella Parra leads the team with a .439 batting average, while senior Lindsey Elcess is hitting .406 with a team-leading eight home runs...Senior Kelly Ninemire has made 19 appearances, including 16 starts this season...She has a 9-7 overall record with a 3.20 ERA.

San Diego State
SDSU went 4-1 last week, including a 3-1 mark at the Judy Garman Classic...The Aztecs are now 15-8 against 2007 NCAA tournament teams and are even better (5-2) against last year's Women's College World Series squads...Eight of the San Diego State's 10 losses have been by two runs or less and two have been in extra innings against top-5 teams UCLA and Arizona State...The Aztecs are 4-2 this season against the Pac-10 and 6-2 against Big West opponents...LHP Christina Ross pitched all 12 innings (223 pitches) in SDSU's 9-5 victory over No. 19/18 Washington on Thursday night...She ended the weekend on an 18.2 scoreless inning streak and hasn't given up an earned run in 23.2 innings, dating back to the fifth-inning of the game vs. Washington.

UNLV
The Rebels sit 19-19-1 heading into its off weekend...UNLV will return to action on April 2 with a doubleheader against Southern Utah prior to the opening weekend of MWC action...UNLV will begin MWC play on the road at San Diego State on April 5...UNLV went 0-6 last week against five foes that made the 2007 NCAA Tournament (Michigan, Louisiana-Lafayette, DePaul, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount)...All but one opponent was ranked in top 25 polls...Brittany Bolinger led the team in hitting last week with her .333 batting average.

Utah
Utah was 2-3 at the Judi Garman Classic, including a 3-2 upset of No. 14 DePaul...In addition, the Utes held No. 1 Arizona State to just three runs in a 3-0 loss...The upset win over No. 14 DePaul (3-2) was the Utes' second victory over a ranked team this season as Utah also defeated then-No. 22 Texas, 5-4, on Feb. 29...Angie Boardman had two home runs in Utah's 5-2 win over Illinois...She has five game-winning hits this year...Diana Phillips stole four bases in five attempts at the Judi Garman Classic...She leads the MWC with 15 stolen bases on the season...Ashley Smuda went 2-1 in the circle with a 1.52 ERA last week and earned wins over Illinois and No. 14 DePaul...She also had 20 strikeouts over the weekend.
