TCU'S Cosmin Cotet and Macall Harkins Sweep Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - TCU's Cosmin Cotet and Macall Harkins have been named the Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week, respectively. This marks the second career honor for Cotet and the first for Harkins.

Cotet went a combined 8-0 at the top singles and doubles positions to help lead No. 63 TCU to wins over Texas-Arlington, Abilene Christian, Dallas Baptist and 42nd-ranked Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last week as the Horned Frogs remained unbeaten at 7-0 on the season. The 27th-ranked senior did not drop a set in his four singles victories, extending his streak of straight-set wins to seven. In doubles play, the Iasi, Romania, product remained undefeated on the season with four victories, playing with partners Kriegler Brink and Adrian Simon. Cotet and Brink, ranked 44th nationally as a duo, clinched the crucial doubles point against TAMCC with a dominating 8-3 win over Dmitry Novikov and Mikhail Pavlov at the top position.

Harkins won both of her matches last week against 25th-ranked Texas. The junior from Palos Verdes, Calif., defeated Stephanie Davison (6-7, 6-2, 6-4) at the No. 2 singles position and teamed with junior Anna Sydorska to topple the 25th-ranked Longhorn duo of Vanja Corovic and Marija Milic in the No. 1 doubles slot. Harkins and Sydorska are currently ranked 18th nationally in doubles play.
