May 30, 2008

Cleveland, OH - Nathan Clements of Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC) in Minnesota and Geami Britt of Okaloosa-Walton College in Florida have been selected as the male and female scholar-athletes of the year as announced by the National Alliance of Two Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) today. The awards program is sponsored by Delta Air Lines and Summit America Insurance Services/NACDA Insurance Division.

Clements, a sophomore, was a two-time NJCAA all-America wrestler at RCTC. He finished seventh in the NJCAA Tournament at 184 pounds as a freshman in 2007 and finished runner-up in 2008. He was also an all-Region performer and earned team MVP both seasons. Clements also played football for RCTC in 2007. He was the team's leading receiver with 14 receptions for 208 yards, and garnered all-MCCC Honorable Mention honors.

Clements excelled in the classroom as well, registering a 3.92 grade point average. In his two years, Clements earned an "A" in 16 of his 17 classes. He was named to the NJCAA all-Academic wrestling team twice and has made the RCTC Dean's List every semester.

Britt, a sophomore, was a member of the women's basketball team and has demonstrated all the characteristics of a student-athlete in her two years at Okaloosa-Walton. On the floor, Britt was selected as a first-team all-Panhandle Conference performer both her freshman and sophomore seasons. She led Okaloosa-Walton in scoring her sophomore campaign, averaging 11.2 points per game. Britt was captain this season and ended her career averaging 8.8 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.

Off the court, Britt was a two-time Academic all-Conference performer and a member of the Florida Community College Activities Association's Academic all-State team. She was also named to the all-Region USA Today all-Academic Team in 2008 and will be selected as a NJCAA Distinguished Academic all-American for 2007-08.
