The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce hosted the chamber's wildly successful monthly networking Schmooze on Wednesday morning. The Schmooze was held at the NAIA headquarters located at 1200 Grand Blvd. in the heart of downtown Kansas City.
The morning event showcased the NAIA's Champions of Character program and the 2008 Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men's Basketball National Championship. NAIA President and CEO Jim Carr joined the Chamber's Director for Membership Development Luann Feehan to talk about the association's character education initiative. Carr also accepted an $18,000 AT&T Excelerator Grant, for Champions of Character, from AT&T Vice President of External Affairs Madeline Rominous. The event turned to hoops when the microphone was passed to NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament Director John McCarthy. McCarthy went over the starting line-up for the 71st Annual Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men's Basketball National Championship which includes Chamber Night, U.S. Bank Championship Night, DST Systems Youth Day and much more.
