Region III Weekly Honors Announced for Week of 4/14-4/20

(Sioux City, Iowa - April 22, 2008) -  NAIA Region III is proud to announce the following weekly honors in softball and baseball for the week of April 14 to April 20, 2008.  The following players will now be in consideration for NAIA National Weekly Honors.
SOFTBALL
Pitcher - Lexy Determan, Northwestern

            Northwestern pitcher Lexy Determan is the NAIA Region III Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week.  Determan, a freshman from Terril, Iowa, went 3-1 on the week as the Red Raiders went 4-2.  For the week she pitched 28 1/3 innings, striking out 51, and walking just eight.  Her ERA on the week was 0.99 as she scattered 17 hits.  Northwestern began the week at 18-14.

 

Player- Clarissa Eloge, Concordia
            Concordia third baseman Clarissa Eloge is the NAIA Region III Softball Player-of-the-Week.  Eloge, a sophomore from Rising City, Nebraska, posted a .560 batting average as the Bulldogs went 8-0 on the week.  She totaled ten RBI's going 14-25 at the plate.  Her slugging percentage was .800 as she had a double, triple, and homerun on the week.  Concordia began the week 23-5 and in first place in the GPAC softball standings.

 

BASEBALL
Pitcher - Chris Baker, Dakota Wesleyan

            Dakota Wesleyan pitcher Chris Baker is the NAIA Region III Baseball Pitcher-of-the-Week.  Baker, a senior from Milwaukie, Oregon, went 2-0 on the week as he picked up wins against Hastings and Briar Cliff.  For the week he struck out 16 with an ERA of 1.38.  He allowed seven hits over 13 innings of work with five walks.  Dakota Wesleyan began the week at 17-18.

 

Player - Brett Hoch, Morningside
            Morningside left fielder Brett Hoch is the NAIA Region III Baseball Player-of-the-Week.  Hoch, a sophomore from South Sioux City, Nebraska, hit .480 on the week with a slugging percentage of 1.000.  At the plate he was 12-25, scored 14 runs, hit four home runs, and totaled 13 RBI's.  On the base paths he stole three bases in three attempts.  Morningside began the week at 22-13.
