Kysar sets triples record as No. 12 Union splits twinbill

Union junior outfielder Josh Ehringer

April 16, 2008

GEORGETOWN, Ky. - Junior outfielder Kenny Kysar became the program's all-time triples leader as No. 12 Union College split a non-conference doubleheader with host Georgetown (Ky.) College Tuesday.

Union
won the opener 3-1, but dropped the finale 4-1.

With the split, Union is 33-10 overall, while Georgetown now stands at 27-19 overall.

Tied at 1-1 in the top of the seventh, Kysar (Corbin, Ky.) lined a two-run triple to put Union up 3-1. The three-bagger was the 13th of Kysar's career, surpassing Tim Moore's mark of 12.

Matt Brady (Louisville, Ky.) singled in Union's other run, driving in Lioney Henriquez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) in the sixth.

In all, Union was limited to just five hits.

Lucas Henson (Corbin, Ky.) pitched a solid 5 2/3 innings, surrendering one earned run on six hits and no walks with win strikeout. However, it was Russell Logsdon (Bowling Green, Ky.) who picked up the win as he tossed 1 1/3 innings of shutout ball. Logsdon is now 4-0 on the year.

In the second game, Union was held to just three hits as Georgetown recorded the 4-1 decision.

Kysar scored on a Josh Ehringer (Somerset, Ky.) sac fly in the fifth to cut the deficit to 2-1. However, Georgetown reeled off two more runs in the bottom of the frame to wrap up the three-run win.

Union
returns to action Saturday when it plays host to Montreat (N.C.) College in an Appalachian Athletic
Conference doubleheader. Game time is set for 1 p.m.

Bulldog Notes

·        Josh Ehringer extended his hitting streak to 14 games with a hit in the first game but had it snapped in game two as he went 0-for-2.

·        Trey Wheeler's 12-game hitting streak came to a halt in the first game as he was 0-of-2 at the plate.

·        Union head coach Bart Osborne is one win away from collecting his 200th career coaching victory.
