KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Graceland University (Iowa) men's soccer star Kevin Souter (Portsoy, Scotland) has been chasing his dream now for the greater part of his life. Souter has officially become one of the lucky few to continue professionally in Major League Soccer (MLS) as he signed with the Kansas City Wizards. After a long process of paper work, the Wizards officially announced on Wednesday (April 30) his signing.
Souter was a standout midfielder during his time at Graceland. A two time all-american and three time first team all-conference perfomer as a Jacket, Souter was a key cog in the Jackets three-peat to the NAIA National Tournament and their 2006 National Championship team.
"I'm very excited to be a member of the Wizards and to fulfill my dream to play professional soccer," Souter said following a Wizards practice. "The open tryout was back in February and we've just now got my paper work completed. Still, throughout the entire process the coaches and staff were very supportive and helpful in getting this done for me.
"Graceland will always be my home away from home. It's an amazing place that made me the man I am today. Coach Joseph and his staff have operated and maintained a Division I caliber program that vastly improved me both on and off the field. I will never forget my time as a Jacket and will be forever indebted to the University and its' people for it," concluded Souter.
