SEWARD, Neb. -The Concordia University women's basketball team added another member to the 1,000 point club over the weekend.
Junior Whitney Stichka (Ruskin, Neb.) went over the 1,000 point mark in the Bulldog's game against Northwestern on Saturday. Stichka was 20 points shy of the mark heading into the contest. She finished the night with 22 points, putting her at 1,002 for her Bulldog career. Stichka has been a three-year letter winner for the Bulldogs and was a first team All-GPAC selection in the 2006-07 season. The Bulldogs are currently ranked No. 9 in the NAIA Division II top 25 poll.
"Whitney has been an incredible player this season. Her commitment to the off-season workouts has proven to make a big difference in her approach to the season," said head coach Drew Olson. "She has had an excellent career and we look forward to her continued success."
Concordia's athletic teams are members of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC). During the 2006-07 season, the Bulldogs paced the conference with 54 scholar-athlete award winners. In the last four years Concordia has had 188 student-athletes garner the NAIA Scholar-Athlete award.
