Taylor's Rudolph Breaks 1,000 Point Barrier

Feb. 19, 2008

UPLAND -Late in Saturday's game against Goshen, Taylor University guard Paige Rudolph became the 14th Lady Trojan to score more than 1,000 points in her career.

A junior from Evansville, Rudolph leads Taylor in scoring with a 16.7 ppg average and ranks 7th in NAIA Div. II from the free throw line, where she connects on .869 percent of her attempts. Her influence on the team is obvious as the Lady Trojans are ranked #1 from the charity stripe with a .797 average.

Coach Tena Krause has relied on Rudolph from the outset this season, "She has been our most consistent point producer all year and is one of our major go-to players.  What I really like about Paige as a player is her blend of offensive skills:  She has the capability to shoot the three, she can knock down the mid-range jumpers, but she will also take it strong to the hole.  That combination just makes it so hard to defend her."

More evidence of Rudolph's impact on the game is the occasional box and one defense the Lady Trojans see. As Krause notes, "We've even had to adjust our offense some because teams are going to a box and one against her."
