Lookout Mountain, GA - Covenant College junior point guard Liz Martin scored her 1,000 point as a Lady Scot last night in the upset loss to King College. Martin, who transferred to Covenant College from Seton Hill after her freshman season, now has 1,315 points in her three-year college career, and currently sits at 1,015 points at Covenant. She is currently 18th on the all-time Lady Scot scoring list with another full season to play.
This season, Martin has led Covenant to a #24 ranking in the NAIA Top 25 poll and #18 in the current Victory Sports Network rankings. The Lady Scots are currently 21-6 overall, with a 14-3 mark in the AAC. Martin is currently second in the nation in assists per game (6.88), 14th in points per game (19.5), 21st in assist-to-turnover ratio, 32nd in steals, 34th in free throw percentage, and 35th in 3pt. field goals per game.
Martin was named to the All-Appalachian Athletic Conference first team last year, and was an NAIA Division II honorable mention All-American. She was also named the AAC Defensive Player of the Year last year, and led the NAIA in assists per game, and would figure into post-season recognition again this year. Martin was named the AAC Player of the Week on January 21.
