MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Rachel Fiely, a junior guard for Mount Vernon Nazarene University, became the 19th player in program history and only the sixth junior to reach the 1,000-point mark in career scoring when she accomplished the feat on a jumper at the 17:42 mark of the second half in a 59-49 American Mideast Conference South Division victory over Walsh University on February 14.
Fiely, a native of Greenville, Ohio, finished with a game-high 15 points, six assists, and four rebounds to lead the Lady Cougars to the victory over Walsh as MVNU improved to 16-9 overall and 4-7 in the AMC South Division.
On the season, Fiely is averaging 13.2 points and 3.3 rebounds to go with 52 steals and a career-high 143 assists. She now ranks 15th in school history with 1,049 career points and she is second in career assists with 397 as she needs just 14 more to tie the school record of 411 set by Mia Dallas from 1985-1988. She also ranks sixth in school history with 214 career steals, is tied for seventh with 123 career three-pointers made, and ranks eighth with 278 career free throws made.
