Palos Heights, Ill. - Trinity Christian College women's basketball player Amanda Learned joins an elite group of athletes who have scored 1,000 career points. Learned reached the milestone in a first round conference tournament game on February 25, becoming the 15th Trinity women's basketball player to achieve this prestigious career mark.
Learned, a junior forward who averages 13.1 points per game this season, entered the contest against Purdue University-Calumet just 13 points shy of the 1,000 mark. She had accumulated 595 points in her first two seasons with the Trolls and had 392 points by the end of this year's regular season schedule.
Learned was well on her way to reaching the goal as she landed nine points in the first half of the game. She opened the second period with a three-pointer, leaving her just one point shy. The milestone point came at 17:10 when she hit two free throws to put at and over the 1,000 point mark. She went on to tally a total of 19 points for the game to bring her present career total to 1,006.
