Despite a loss last week, 25-1 Mountain State is still in the NAIA Top 10 and the No. 1 seed heading into the final two weeks of the Independent Region basketball regular season.

ALLEN'S TERRELL, VOORHEES' PAGE EARN WEEKLY HONORS
Voorhees College women's basketball guard Rhadja Page and Allen University guard Demetrice Terrell are the NAIA Independent Region players of the week.

Page, a 5-foot-6 junior from Kingstree, S.C., averaged 14.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game, but her presence was most felt in an Independent Region regular season win over Morris College where she had a double-double with 19 points and 10 steals.

She averaged 6.5 steals per game and shot 48 percent from the floor, including 8-of-20 from the floor in the win over Morris. She was also 4-of-6 from the foul line for the week.

Voorhees finished with a 2-0 mark last week, defeating Morris 71-49 and also knocking off Talladega College 104-31. She had 10 points and three boards against TC, finishing 4-of-5 from the floor and 2-for-2 at the foul line.

Terrell averaged 19.5 points per game, scoring 23 in a win over North Greenville Saturday in only 24 minutes played. He also scored 16 against Flagler, finishing 5-of-13 from the floor and 5-of-9 from the 3-point line.

He was 6-of-9 from the floor against North Greenville. He was 6-of-6 on triples attempted.

MOUNTAIN STATE, VOORHEES, BRESCIA REPRESENTED IN POLLS
For the first time in nine polls there is a new No. 1. Georgetown (Ky.), who held the No. 2 slot the last seven weeks, sits on top of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division I Men's Basketball Top 25 Coaches' Poll, announced today (Feb. 20). After a loss by then-No. 1 Mountain State (W.Va.) back on Feb. 12 to Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), Georgetown stands as the lone undefeated team in the basketball world at 26-0. The Tigers earned 330 total points and all 11-first place votes.

Louisiana State University-Shreveport moves up one spot to No. 2 while Mountain State falls down to No. 3. No. 4 Lee (Tenn.) stays while Lambuth (Tenn.) vaults up to No. 5, its highest spot this season.

Voorhees finished in the receiving votes column of the men's poll, while Brescia earned points in the women's poll.

INDEPENDENT REGION TOURNAMENT NEARS
Six schools, 11 teams will converge on Orangeburg, S.C., March 6-9 for the 2008 Independent Region Tournament at Claflin University.

Park University, Morris College, Allen University, Brescia University and Voorhees College will bring both a men's and women's squad to the tournament, while top 10 Mountain State will bring only a men's squad to Orangeburg.

Things kick off March 6 with the Independent Region Awards Banquet, and play begins on March 7 with the men's No. 3 and No. 6 seeds, the men's No. 4 and No. 5 seeds and the women's No. 4 and No. 5 seeds in the first round.

Day two sees the men's No. 1 and No. 2 in semifinal action, while the No. 2 and No. 3 seeded women's teams play on the semifinal day and the No. 1 women's seed awaits the winner of the women's quarterfinal game.

Last season, No. 2 seeded Park beat No. 1 Mountain State in the men's tournament, while No. 1 Brescia earned its trip to the NAIA Division I women's tournament in Jackson, Tenn., by winning the women's bracket.
