RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- California Baptist's Erin Greenberg became the newest member of the 1,000th point club after a 14-point performance in a 74-67 loss to No. 15 The Master's. The senior, from Scottsdale, Ariz., scored 1,000 points in just three years as a Lancer after transferring from Lehigh.
Greenberg was 3-for-6 from the outside and 5-of-10 from the field. She also is second in school history in three-pointers made with 209 and needs just 10 more to become the all-time leader. Greenberg scored 423 points in the 2005-06 season and 361 points in the 2006-07 season. She currently has 226 points this year.
Brenna Hahn scored a career-high 21 points. The freshman, from Sandy, Utah drained three treys for the Lancers (14-10, 8-9) and went 7-for-18 from the floor and hit all four free throw attempts.
CBU trailed by as much as 20 (34-14) in the first half before it cut the deficit to 41-25 at halftime. The Lancers finally closed the gap to three, at 68-65, with 42 second left on a Hahn jumper, but CBU couldn't hang on to pull off the upset.
The Lancers, who were down to seven players, were 22-for-59 from the field and 8-of-24 from beyond the arc. CBU continued its hot streak from the line hitting 15 of its 18 free throw attempts. The Mustangs had four players in double figures and shot 45.3 percent from the floor and 44.4 percent from outside. It was TMC's bench that played a big factor scoring 28 of its 74 points.
California Baptist will now get set for the final regular-season home game, Tuesday, when its hosts San Diego Christian for Senior Night. Greenberg is the only senior on the 2007-08 team.
