KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) releases the qualifiers for the 28th Annual NAIA Division I Women's Basketball National Championship. The tournament will be held at the Oman Arena in Jackson, Tenn. on March 19-25, 2008.
This year's 32 teams include 15 conference automatic qualifiers, one independent automatic qualifier and 16 at-large bids. The at-large berths are selected using the final regular-season rating released on March 5th.
The 15 conference automatic qualifiers include: Berry (Ga.), Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.), Georgetown (Ky.), Langston (Okla.), Lee (Tenn.), Lewis-Clark (Idaho), Loyola (La.), McKendree (Ill.), Oklahoma Baptist, Oklahoma City, Olivet Nazarene (Ill.), Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.), Union (Tenn.), Vanguard (Calif.) and Xavier (La.).
Brescia (Ky.) earned the independent automatic berth while Azusa Pacific (Calif.), Carroll (Mont.), Cumberlands (Ky.), Harris-Stowe (Mo.), Lambuth (Tenn.), Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), Lubbock Christian (Texas), The Master's (Calif.), Robert Morris (Ill.), St. Xavier (Ill.), Science and Arts of Oklahoma, Southern Nazarene (Okla.), Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.), Westminster (Utah), Westmont (Calif.) and Wiley (Texas) received an at-large bid into the tournament.
The official tournament bracket will be released by 5 p.m. (CST) on Wednesday, March 12th.
