DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Kristina Chase picked a good time to score her first goal of the season as her score in the 57th minute was all the top-seeded Lee Lady Flames needed to advance past McKendree in the second round of the 2007 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship, Thursday at the Embry-Riddle Soccer Stadium. With the 1-0 win, the Lady Flames move on to face the winner of Friday's game between Savannah College of Art & Design and St. Xavier, while the Bearcats end their season at 20-2.
Janaina Novaes took the ball out of the left corner after holding off four defenders and got the ball all the way across to Chase on the opposite side of the 18-yard box. Chase launched a shot from about 30 yards out to beat McKendree keeper Liz Yanko for the win.
Lee's next game will be in the quarterfinal round at noon on Saturday.
