COLUMBIA, Mo. - California Baptist posted 3-0 record and Texas at Brownsville went 2-1 in the pool play to advance to the championship bracket at the 28th Annual NAIA Volleyball National Championship.
California Baptist won two matches on day one and one more on day two to post a 3-0 record in pool play. The Lancers knocked off Lewis-Clark, 3-0 (30-23, 30-16, 30-19) on Thursday to clinch a spot in the quarterfinals. Cal Baptist will play at 6 p.m. in the third quarterfinal match. Vernaia Willis led the Lancers with 18 kills and 15 digs against Lewis-Clark. Yudelka Bonilla also added 11 kills and 12 digs.
After splitting the two matches on day one, Texas at Brownsville defeated Virginia-Wise, 3-0 (30-20, 30-23, 30-13) to advance to the championship bracket with a 2-1 record. Talita Milasauskas led the Scorpions with 14 kills and eight digs. UTB will play in one of the two first round matches at 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
Lewis-Clark went 1-2 in the pool play with a win against Virginia-Wise (30-17, 30-17, 30-19) on Thursday. The Warriors end their season with 26-8 record.
Virginia-Wise posted 0-3 pool play record and dropped to 25-16 on the season.
