KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2007 Volleyball All-America Teams, as selected by the NAIA Volleyball All-America Selection Committee.
Thirty-six players have been named to the first, second and third teams while 35 earned honorable mention.
Junior setter Shu Liu of Fresno Pacific (Calif.) was named the 2007 Tachikara-NAIA Player of the Year while the Sunbirds' head coach Dennis Janzen earned the 2007 Tachikara-NAIA Coach of the Year honors. Senior Heather Hernandez of Walsh (Ohio) was selected the 2007 Tachikara-NAIA Libero of the Year.
Shu Liu led Fresno Pacific with 1,388 assists in 106 games this season. She helped the Sunbirds capture the 2007 national title and earned the Tachikara National Tournament Most Valuable Player honors.
Hernandez helped Walsh to a 29-9 overall record this season. She led the team with 715 digs in 107 games.
Janzen guided the Sunbirds to 37-1 record, 14th consecutive national tournament appearance and third national title. He was also named National Tournament Coach of the Year.
