Tragedy Hits Cornerstone (Mich.) Women's Cross Country/Track & Field Teams

Kendra Ross

Jan. 28, 2008

Sophomores Kendra Ross and Katey Kingsbury were involved in a three car crash that claimed the life of Ross and left Kingsbury in critical condition on Wednesday, January 23rd around 9:40 a.m.  Ross and Kingsbury were on their way to Cornerstone from Ross's home in  Alto when the accident took place.  Ross was driving the vehicle when she apparently hit some ice and slid across road into the southbound lane and was struck by two vehicles.  Ross died at the scene and Kingsbury was taken to the hospital where she was listed in critical condition.

Kendra Ross, a graduate of Caledonia H.S. , ran on the Cross Country team this fall and was a member of the Track & Field team last year.  She ran the first leg of the Women's Outdoor 4 x 800 that set the school record last spring.  She was also part of the Women's Freshmen Indoor Distance Relay Medley Team that set a school record in 2007.

Katey Kingsbury, a graduate of Brimley H.S., also ran Cross Country and Track.  Kingsbury was also a member of the Freshmen Indoor Distance Medley Team that set a school record in 2007.

The funeral for Kendra Ross is scheduled for Monday, January 28th at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Middleville, MI.
