FAYETTEVILLE, ARK. - Sophomore sprinter Darius Law turned in a 46.47 second time to finish 14th in the semi-finals at today's NCAA Champonships at the University of Arkansas' McDonnell Field.
Law finished seventh in his heat and was the third-best finisher from a non-BCS conference competitor.
During the course of the indoor and outdoor season, the Raleigh, N.C. native re-wrote the 400 meter dash record on multiple occasions by crushing former school records in only his second season with the 49ers program.
Law's finish wraps up another record-setting season for the 49ers track and field team. Charlotte swept the indoor and outdoor team titles in the Atlantic 10 and qualified a record-tying 19 athletes to the NCAA East Region Championships.
On top of the team successes, the program saw 20 school records fall throughout the course of the indoor and outdoor seasons with an incredible nine school records being taken down during the indoor season.
Outside of the team's success on the track, the Niners continue to put up great numbers in the classroom as well as Charlotte swept the Atlantic 10 Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Scholar Athlete of the Year awards. On top of the conference successes, Charlotte also saw Law and Lamarra Currie earn CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine First-Team Academic All-District honors.
The NCAA Championships wrap up tomorrow, Saturday, with the championship finals where the 2009 national champions will be crowned.
