Charlotte, N.C. - After recording an NCAA Regional qualifying leap of 6.27m (20'7") in the long jump at this weekend's Florida Relays, junior Pat Springs (Winston-Salem, N.C./Mount Tabor HS) was named Atlantic 10 Women's Outdoor Track and Field Performer of the Week, league officials announced Monday. On the men's side, freshman Reggie Hill was named Rookie of the Week.
Springs' jump, just one centimeter off her program record personal best, now leads the conference by nearly two feet in the event. Her fourth-place distance was accompanied by another NCAA Regional qualifying time as a member of the 4x100m relay team, which turned in a time of 45.06, good for third place, and clocked a 14.06 in the 100m hurdles, placing 16th overall.
Hill notched the conference's fastest time in the 100m dash at the Florida Relays with a time of 10.63 while also running as a member of the 4x100m relay team that turned in a conference-leading time of 40.95.
Springs and Hill will join the rest of the 49ers this weekend at the Sea Ray Relays this weekend at the University of Tennessee.
