PHILADELPHIA - Following a tremendous weekend at the NCAA East Region Championships, senior sprinter Lamarra Currie was honored for her athletic accomplishments and her achievements in the classroom as she was one of four student-athletes to earn an Atlantic 10 Postgraduate Scholarship. Currie's A-10 scholarship is on top of the NCAA Ethnic Minority Postgraduate Scholarship she received in February.

Currie was named the Atlantic 10 Female Scholar Athlete of the Year in both indoor and outdoor track and field and is a five-time Academic All-Conference selection. Currie is the only person in A-10 women's outdoor track and field history to twice be named the Female Scholar Athlete of the Year.

On top of her conference honors, Currie has also been recognized at the national level as the Apex, N.C. native was named a finalist for the Arthur Ashe Jr.

Academic Award and was a CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine First-Team Academic All-American a season ago.

At this past weekend's regional championships, Currie earned a trip to the NCAA National Championship meet in the 100 and 200 meter dash. Currie earned All-Region honors in both events as well as East Region accolades as part of the 4x100 meter relay.

Earlier in the season at the A-10 Championships, Currie posted meet records in both the 100 and 200 meter events and picked up three gold medals as she led the Niner women to their fourth straight A-10 crown.

In the classroom, Currie boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA and earned UNC Charlotte's Provost Award for Student-Athlete Academic Achievement for her tremendous classroom work. Currie graduated on May 9 with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology.
