TUSCALOOSA, ALA. – Senior Lamarra Currie and sophomore Darius Law were each named to the CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine first team Academic All-District list for their tremendous accomplishment on the track and in the classroom. Law and Currie each boast perfect 4.0 GPAs in the classroom and both qualified in two events for the upcoming NCAA Championships which will be held from June 10-13 at the University of Arkansas.

For Currie, the honor is one of many on the year as the Apex, N.C. native has been honored for her exceptional work in the classroom at the university, regional and national levels. The honor for Law is his first as the sophomore was ineligible for the award which is bestowed upon student-athletes who are at the sophomore class level or higher.

Following a tremendous weekend at the NCAA East Region Championships, senior sprinter Lamarra Currie was honored for her athletic accomplishments and her achievements in the classroom as she was one of four student-athletes to earn an Atlantic 10 Postgraduate Scholarship. Currie's A-10 scholarship is on top of the NCAA Ethnic Minority Postgraduate Scholarship she received in February.

Currie was named the Atlantic 10 Female Scholar Athlete of the Year in both indoor and outdoor track and field and is a five-time Academic All-Conference selection. Currie is the only person in A-10 women's outdoor track and field history to twice be named the Female Scholar Athlete of the Year.

It marks the second year in a row that Currie has picked up first team honors. Currie earned a trip to the NCAA National Championship meet in the 100 and 200 meter dash and earned All-Region honors in both events as well as East Region accolades as part of the 4x100 meter relay.

Earlier in the season at the A-10 Championships, Currie posted meet records in both the 100 and 200 meter events and picked up three gold medals as she led the Niner women to their fourth straight A-10 crown.

Currie also earned UNC Charlotte's Provost Award for Student-Athlete Academic Achievement for her tremendous classroom work.

Law has been just as solid in the classroom and on the track as the sprinter has quickly re-written the record books in his second year with the program.

During the indoor and outdoor seasons, Law established a new standard in the 400 meter dash. Most recently, Law set the 400 meter outdoor record with a 45.77 second finish.

Law was named the Atlantic 10 Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year and earned a trip to the NCAA Championships with a pair of All-Region performance at the NCAA East Regional championships in the 200 and 400 meter dash events.

Currie and Law will be back in action from June 10-13 as both athletes travel to the NCAA Championships at the University of Arkansas.
