2009-10 Track Schedule

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The 49ers Track & Field team will host two track meets this year with the 49er Classic to open the outdoor season from March 18-20 and the Charlotte Invitational on April 17th. Overall, the 49ers will compete in 26 total events during the 2009-10 season with 12 during the indoor season and 14 in the outdoor season.

The season will start for the Niners on December 4th with the Roaring Tiger Opener in Clemson, S.C. Charlotte will compete in the Virginia Tech Invitational (Jan. 15-16), Penn State National Open (Jan. 29-30), Tiger Paw Invitational (Feb. 12-13) as well as two Last Chance Qualifiers in South Bend, Ind. and Blacksburg, Va.

Charlotte will look to defend its conference crowns at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship on February 19-20 in Kingston, R.I. Last year, the Niners won both the men’s and women’s titles with the women winning their fourth-straight conference crown and the men winning their third in the last four.

The NCAA Indoor Championship will be held in mid-March on the campus of Arkansas from March 12-13.

The outdoor season will begin the following week with the 49er Classic on March 18-20. The month of April will be packed for the Niner as they compete in five different events including the Tiger Track Invitational in Auburn, Ala., the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tenn. and the Larry Ellis Invitational on Princeton’s campus.

Massachusetts will host the 2010 A-10 Outdoor Championships on May 1-2 where the women’s squad will try to capture their fifth-straight outdoor title, while the men will try to win back-to-back titles.

Two tournaments preclude the NCAA Championship Qualifier (May 28-29) including the Orange & Purple Classic (May 8) and the Georgia Tech Invitational (May 14-15).

The NCAA Outdoor Championships will be held on June 9-12 in Eugene, Oregon. Last year, Pat Springs became the 11th Charlotte track athlete to garner All-American honors as she placed 10th in the long jump.

The season will conclude with the USATF Championships in late-June in Des Moines, Iowa from the 24th through the 27th.
