CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Amanda Goetschius was named the Atlantic 10 Cross Country Performer of the Week, announced today, after her 26th place finish at the NCAA Pre-Nationals. Goetschius took the top honors for Charlotte at the race by pacing the 49ers to a 24th place finish in a field that consisted of 19 of the top 30 nationally ranked teams in the nation in the day’s two races.

Her time of 21:18.9 was thirteen seconds faster than her time last year, while she improved upon her finish by 49 spots in the race. This is the third time during the 2009 season that Goetschius has been named the A-10 Performer of the Week with the previous honors coming on Oct. 5th and 19th.

Goetschius is the A-10 defending individual champion and will get a chance to repeat as the A-10 Champion in two weeks in St. Louis, Mo. on Oct. 31st.
