Charlotte, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers baseball program begins the Niners World Series this Friday, October 9 at 2:30 p.m. at Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium. The series, which pits the Green team versus the White team, will represent the end of the fall practice season.

The teams will be selected on Wednesday morning, October 7, and they will have a day to workout together Thursday before game one begins.

Game two will be Sunday at 6:30 p.m., with game three to take place on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Game four will be Thursday, October 15 at 3:15, followed by game five on Saturday, October 17, at 1:30 p.m.

The final two games will be Sunday the 18th at 6:30 p.m. and Tuesday the 20th at 3:15 p.m.

Should rain postpone any of the scheduled dates, make-up games could take place on either Thursday the 22nd or Friday the 23rd, times to be announced if those circumstances arrive.

All games are open to the public, and will be the last time to see the squad as a whole in the fall semester on the field.

Nationally, Charlotte is one of only 20 programs to finish in the Top 75 for winning percentage in the nation in each of the last four years. The Niners have now won 30 or more games in five straight seasons and 20 or more home games in four straight years, both program records. Charlotte is the only team out of the Atlantic 10 to have winning percentages of better than 70 percent overall and in league play. Since joining the league in 2006, the Niners are 160-68 (.702) overall, with a 76-32 (.704) league record. The 49ers begin the 2010 season with a home-and-home series against High Point on February 19 on the road and February 20 at Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium in Charlotte. The Niners are scheduled to play 23 of their first 28 contests at home in 2010.
