CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers welcome a second ACC opponent in as many years to Halton Arena when they battle 15th ranked Georgia Tech to kick off the New Year on Saturday, January 2. The tip is set for 7pm, with the game being televised on Fox SportSouth.
The first 1,000 fans to enter Halton Arena for the match-up between the 49ers and Yellow Jackets will receive a FREE Nike Charlotte 49ers Basketball t-shirt. The white t-shirt will have the Charlotte ""C-49ers" logo below the neckline with "Niners Basketball" and a retro Nike logo. The game entertainment will include a halftime performance by The Piano Juggler, Dan Menendez, presented by Jack in the Box. Menendez, making his second appearance in Halton Arena, combines comedy, juggling, and music for his performance as The Piano Juggler. He is able to captivate thousands in a large arena with his use of five juggling balls on the world's only "Bounce Piano." He also has years of national and international television experience, including "The Tonight Show" with Johnny Carson.
Charlotte (8-1) is led in scoring by junior Shamari Spears (18.5 ppg), while senior DiJuan Harris continues to impress averaging over 10 points and 5.5 assists per contest. Freshman Chris Braswell has been strong on the boards with nearly 10 rebounds per game and leads the team with four double-doubles on the season.
