Charlotte Leads Palisades Classic After Two Rounds

Charlotte, N.C. - The fourth-ranked Charlotte 49ers raced to a 14-stroke lead after the first two rounds of the Palisades Collegiate Classic, Monday, at Palisades Country Club. The third and final round will be played Tuesday with tee times slated to begin at 8:00 a.m. The 49ers tee times begin at 9:30 am and continue at nine-minute intervals.
Charlotte stands at 14-under par 562 (279-283) after two rounds -- the only team in the 14-team field to best par. Augusta State is in second-place at even par, 576 while USC Upstate is third at +1, 576.
Charlotte shot nine-under par 279 to take the lead in the first round and then added a five-under par 283 in round two -- giving Charlotte two of the best three rounds of the day. USC Upstate shot -8, 280 in round one and Belmont Abbey matched the 49ers five-under par 283 in round two for the other top rounds of the day.
Campbell's Fredric Sundberg leads the field at -8, 136 after back-to-back 68s. Josh Gallman of USC Upstate and Tarik Can of Augusta State are tied for second at -7, 137 while Charlotte's Andrew DiBitetto and Corey Nagy are tied for fourth at -6, 138.
DiBitetto, who took medalist honors at the event in 2005, and Nagy shot identical rounds of 68-70 to land just two strokes off the pace of leader Sundberg. Charlotte senior Jonas Enander Hedin, who is ranked in the top 20 in the nation, individually, by Golfstat, is 12th at two-under par 142. Charlotte junior David Rawluk is making his first appearance in the 49ers lineup and stands at even par 144 after back-to-back rounds of 72.

The Charlotte 49ers held a slight one stroke lead after the first round, shooting -9, 279 to lead USC-Upstate which carded a eight-under par 280. UNC Greensboro and Xavier were tied for third at even par, 288. USC Upstate's Tyler Tucker shared the first round lead at -5, 67 with Davidson's Christopher Rollins, who was competing as an individual. Charlotte's Corey Nagy and Andrew DiBitetto were among five players tied for third at four-under par 68.
