49ers Golf at Palisades Collegiate Classic, Monday-Tuesday

4th-Ranked 49ers Lead Field That Includes Four Other Top 100 Teams

Charlotte, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers fourth-ranked golf team will co-host the 2008 Palisades Collegiate Classic, Monday and Tuesday, April 14-15, at Palisades Country Club in southeast Charlotte. The 49ers are the top-ranked team in the 14-team field that includes four other top 100 programs. Charlotte co-hosts the event with the Charlotte Sports Commission and area opponents Davidson and Belmont Abbey.

The tournament begins Monday with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. Two rounds will be played Monday with the third and final round scheduled to begin Tuesday with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Attendance at the event is free and the gallery will be allowed to follow golfers around the course but are not allowed on the fairways, greens or other areas of "field of play".

Charlotte has won four tournament titles this season and was the consensus number one team in the country in October. Golfstat currently has Palisades participants Augusta State ranked 48th, Marquette, 69th, Eastern Michigan 72nd and Virginia Commonwealth 93rd. The field also includes Atlantic 10 foe Xavier.

Directions to Palisades

·	Take I-77 SOUTH, toward Rock Hill, SC.

·	Go approximately 9 miles to Exit #88: Gold Hill Road.  At the top of the ramp, take a RIGHT.

·	Go approximately 2 miles to SC Hwy 160.  Take a RIGHT.

·	Go approximately 0.4 mile to Zoar Road.  Take a LEFT.

·	Go the end of Zoar Road (1.2 miles).  Take a LEFT on Youngblood.

·	Go approximately 1.6 miles, take a LEFT on Grand Palisades Parkway.  (Traffic circle.)

·	Go approximately 0.4 mile, the Club House will be on your LEFT.

An alternative route. 

·	Take a LEFT out of the hotel onto Tryon Street SOUTH.  

·	Go approximately 10.7 miles.  Take a LEFT into the main entrance of The Palisades.

·	Continue on Grand Palisades Parkway, through the traffic circle, for approximately 2.3 miles.  The Club House will be on your LEFT.
