West Lafayette, Ind. - Charlotte 49ers senior Jonas Enander Hedin fired an impressive round of two-over par 74 in a blustery third round at the NCAA Div. I Men's golf Championship at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex - Kampen Course. It was Enander Hedin's best round of the tournament and came during difficult scoring conditions.
With steady winds blowing at a reported 15 mph and gusting up to 25 mph, Charlotte carded a third round total of +18 to complete the first three rounds at +43. Charlotte was in 18th place went it walked off the course, with several teams in front of them just getting underway. The top 15 teams at the end of round three will advance to Saturday's final round. Scores from the first three rounds will carry over.
"Jonas will be pretty pleased and pretty proud of that round, if he looks at it as a whole," said 49ers head coach Jamie Green. "He made a lot of good decisions, was swinging freely and made a lot of quality golf shots. The only way to hit shots that don't get effected by this wind is to hit it pretty solid."
Enander Hedin's round included three bogeys and one birdie.
"I could not have hit it any better today," Enander Hedin noted. "I had some good looks at birdies that didn't drop and that's the difference between a 74 and a round under par. I was hitting the ball well, though. A lot has to do with picking the right targets -- targets that you can play golf from. There's a small margin out there, so you have to pick targets that give you the best chance."
Enander Hedin sank a 12-foot par putt on the ninth green (his 18th hole) to wrap up a solid round.
Sophomore Corey Nagy birdied both the 8th and 9th holes (his 17th and 18th holes played) to finish at +4, 76. Nagy overcame a triple bogey on #18 to shoot -1 on his final nine.

Senior Andrew DiBitetto and junior Stefan Wiedergruen both shot +6, 78 while senior Trevor Murphy added a +8, 80.
"So much of the golf course is a matter of where you are when the wind starts blowing tougher," Green said. "Some teams got off to a good start this morning and put up some red numbers (under-par). We didn't get off to that good start but I was proud that when the wind really picked up we held steady and had some par saves and made some birdies."
Charlotte is one of just nine teams that have made the NCAA Championships in each of the last three years and are hoping to be one of just a few that have advanced to the final day both of the last two years. Stanford, Georgia, Alabama, UCLA, Florida and Oklahoma State also made the cut last year and are likely to make the cut, again in 2008.
UCLA has the lead through three rounds at +24 after shooting +10, today. Only two teams in the morning wave (Alabama, +5; Stanford, +8) posted rounds in single-digits over par.
