Farmingdale, N.Y. - Former Charlotte 49ers standout Trevor Murphy, who helped the 49ers to back-to-back NCAA Div. I top 10 finishes during his four-year career, shot 10-over par 80 in the final round of the 2009 US Open at Bethpage Black and finished in a tie for 58th.
Competing in his first major championship, Murphy made the cut, thanks, in part, to three straight birdies on the final three holes of his second round.
Standing at even-par after two rounds, Murphy shot 7-over par 77 in round three and 10-over par in round four to finish at +17. Murphy had seven birdies over the first two rounds but managed just three in the final two rounds.
Murphy, who has been playing on the Gateway Tour in Arizona since graduation, had also participated in the 2008 PGA Wachovia Championship in Charlotte as an amateur.
