Charlotte, NC - Members of the 49ers' nationally-ranked men's and women's soccer programs were named A-10 Player of the Week this week. For the second time this season, men's soccer's Adam Gross and women's soccer Whitney Weinraub were named A-10 Player of the Week in the same week.
For the second time this season, Gross earned Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honors for his performance last weekend against La Salle and Fordham. Gross scored a goal in the 49ers 3-0 win over La Salle, Friday. Then, he notched the 49ers first goal in their 2-2 double-overtime tie with Fordham, Sunday.
Gross leads the team and is tied for third in the A-10 with a career-high seven goals. He also leads the team and is ranked second in the A-10 with six assists.
Gross and the rest of the 49ers' nationally-ranked men's soccer team returns to action this weekend on the road at Dayton and Xavier, October 30-November 1.
For the third time this season, Weinraub earned A-10 Player of the Week honors for her performance in the 49ers road wins at Temple and Saint Joseph's last weekend. She scored two goals and added two assists in Charlotte's two wins. She scored a goal and tallied two assists in the 49ers' 5-0 win over Temple, Friday. Then, she scored the game-winning goal in the 49ers' 3-1 win at Saint Joseph's, Sunday.
Weinraub leads the A-10 with a career-high 13 goals this season. Weinraub's 13 goals this season are the fourth highest single-season total in school history. She has tallied 31 career goals which is tied for the third highest total in the program's history. She also leads the Atlantic 10 with 32 points.
Weinraub and the rest of the 49ers nationally-ranked women's soccer team look to claim a share of their fourth straight A-10 regular-season title in their final regular-season game on the road at Saint Louis, Friday, October 30.
