Niners Snap Losing Slide in 4-3 Men's Tennis Win at UNC Greensboro

Doubles Victories Pace Charlotte to Road Win

Greensboro, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers men's tennis team ended a three-match losing slide and won at UNC Greensboro Saturday morning. The Niners improve to 5-8 this season, dropping UNCG to 1-7 this season.

"I told our guys it was a battle," said Charlotte head coach Jim Boykin. "We were helped by guys who couldn't play, but you take the good with the bad. These were highly contested matches. We've got a big week ahead and it will be a test for us."

After winning the doubles point, Charlotte won at number-four singles when freshman Moritz Bernhoerster improved his singles record to 12-8 with a straight sets victory over Andrew Clark 6-0, 6-2.

Charlotte took the doubles point with two wins and a default as the Spartans did not have enough healthy players to compete. Brad Clinard and Jesse Hutchinson ousted Yaroslav Litus and William John 8-5 at number-one. They evened their season record together to 1-1 on the season. The freshman pairing of Michael Anders and Chris Huynh also evened their season mark to 2-2 with a 9-7 win over Clark and Andrey Bubnov.

Charlotte has a busy week ahead during spring break. Charlotte travels to Gardner-Webb Monday, then heads into conference play at Richmond Wednesday and George Washington on Thursday this week.
