Charlotte, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers men's tennis team lost its first home match of the week, a 5-2 decision to Appalachian State Monday afternoon at the Phillips Tennis Complex. Charlotte falls to 8-11 on the season.
"The hardest shots to make are the easiest ones," said Niners coach Jim Boykin. "We missed some easy shots today and it caught up to us from doubles on to singles. We played hard to finish, but we could not get back in the match once we got down."
After ASU captured the doubles point, Charlotte got singles wins by freshmen Michael Anders and Chris Huynh.
Anders has won five of his last six singles matches. Anders is 15-10 overall, 12-5 in dual match season play. Huynh has won his last singles matches and nine of his last 11. He is 11-5 since joining the team at the semester break.
Charlotte hosts Furman on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
