Chapel Hill, N.C. - Sophomore Charles Martin-Lecamp won a pair of matches and advanced to the round of 32 before being eliminated as the Charlotte 49ers men's tennis team competed at the ITA Carolinas Regional in CHapel Hill over the weekend.
Martin-Lecamp ousted UNC Wilmington's Kinshuk Sharma 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (3) in the opening round of the weekend and in the round of 64, he put out Andrei Chvetsov of Furman in straight sets (6-3, 6-4) before losing to North Carolina's Stephan Hardy 6-2, 6-2.
Michael Anders, Moritz Bernhoerster and Jesse Hutchinson all lost in straight sets in their opening matches for the weekend. Bernhoerster defeated Frideric Prandecki of North Carolina State in straight sets in the consolation bracket 6-2, 6-3.
Returning to the courts for the first time in the fall was junior Chris Huynh, who lost a pair of matches in the consolation bracket in his return to the court after an early injury in the early part of the fall.
Charlotte will compete at the College of Charleston Invitational this weekend in the Palmetto State.
