Charlotte, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers men's tennis program has signed Alex Weber to the 2010-2011 squad, head coach Jim Boykin announced today.

Weber is a 5-10 right-handed player from Clemmons, N.C. and plays for West Forsyth High School. He has also trained at the Randy Tate Tennis Academy.

He is ranked No. 6 in the state of North Carolina for the under-18 group.

"Alex is quick and athletic on the court with some good tournament experience and he has a fine serve and good forehand," said Boykin. "He has good hands at the net and should improve his ranking this year. We look forward to having him become a 49er."

The Niners begin team match play with a rough opening stretch, facing North Carolina State, North Carolina and South Carolina in the first week of play. The match against the Wolfpack in Raleigh is on January 31, 2010 at 3:30 p.m.
