Philadelphia, PA - The Charlotte 49ers (14-10, A-10: 5-3) fell on the road at Atlantic 10 foe Temple (14-10, A-10: 7-1), 66-53, in an afternoon Education Day start time of 12 pm. Danielle Burgin paced the 49ers with her 15th double-figure scoring game of the season and the 40th of her career with 10 points.
"The difference in today's game was rebounding," Charlotte coach Karen Aston said. "You have to give Temple credit they did a good job of controlling the tempo of the game. Ashley Morris had a great game for Temple. But the main difference in the game was Temple's rebounding."
Charlotte's Traci Ray added nine points to the 49ers attack. Wendy Stywalt tallied eight points and Aysha Jones scored seven points for the 49ers.
Temple's Ashley Morris led all scorers with 32 points on seven three-point field goals.
The 49ers jumped out to an early six point lead, 14-8, in the first seven half minutes of the game. Erin Floyd, Sabrina Gregory, Stywalt, Ray and Jones scored for the 49ers during their early run.
Temple tied the score, 14-14, with six straight points over the next two minutes.
Jones connected on a three for the 49ers which gave Charlotte the lead again, 17-14, at the 9:58 mark. However, Temple would go on an 8-0 run over the next four minutes to take the lead for good, 22-14, with 5:28 left in the first half.

In the second half, the 49ers cut the Temple's lead to four points behind two Floyd free throws at the 19:46 mark.
Temple pushed their lead to nine points, 39-30, with 16:40 left in the game. Charlotte then cut the Temple lead to four points, 41-37, behind a basket from Burgin and three-point field goal from Ray at the 14:57 mark.
Temple answered with a Morris three-point field goal pushing their lead back to seven points. Then, the 49ers scored six unanswered points behind baskets from Stywalt, Burgin and Jones cutting Temple's lead to 44-43 at the 10:58 mark.
Then, Temple would put the game away with a 12-3 run over the next three minutes pushing their lead to 56-46 with seven and half minutes left in the game.
Charlotte returns to action when they host A-10 foe St. Bonaventure in Halton Arena, Saturday, February 9 at 7 pm.
