Charlotte Travels To Fordham For Their Final Regular Season Road Game

The 49ers have won four of their last five final regular season road games including an 86-74 win at St. Bonaventure last season

The Charlotte 49ers (16-12, A-10: 7-5) travel to Atlantic foe Fordham (0-27, A-10: 0-12) for their final regular-season road game, Wednesday, February 27 at 6 pm. The 49ers have won their final regular season road game in four of the last five years including an 86-74 win at St. Bonaventure last season.

With two Atlantic 10 games left, the 49ers are in the hunt for one of the four first-round byes for next week's Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Tournament, March 7-10. The 49ers are currently tied with Dayton for fourth place in the Atlantic 10. Charlotte holds the tiebreaker over Dayton by virtue of their 64-51 win at Dayton earlier this season.

Wednesday's game will mark the third meeting between the two teams. The 49ers have won both of the previous two meetings. Charlotte defeated Fordham, 78-46, in their last meeting in Halton Arena, February 8, 2007. Sabrina Gregory led the 49ers with 20 points. While, Wendy Stywalt scored 11 points in the game. All ten 49ers that played in the game scored at least two points. The 49ers defeated Fordham, 70-64, in their last meeting at Fordham's Rose Hill Gym, January 8, 2006. Former 49ers standout Sakellie Daniels led the 49ers with 21 points. While fellow 49ers stalwarts Pam Brown and Andrea Davidson scored 17 points and 12 points respectively.

Danielle Burgin continues to lead the 49ers in scoring (11.0 ppg). She ranks fourth in the A-10 in rebounding with a team-leading 8.5 boards per game. Gregory, who scored 11 points in the 49ers last game against Rhode Island, is second on the team in scoring at 10.5 points per game. She ranks fourth in the A-10 with a team-leading 115 assists. When Gregory plays in the Fordham game, she will tie former 49ers standout Pam Brown for first place in school history with 122 career games played. Traci Ray moved into third place on the team in scoring at 9.0 points per game after scoring a career-high 23 points against Rhode Island last Sunday. Ray needs four assists to become only the 14th player in school history to record 100 assists in a season.
