Charlotte, NC - The Charlotte 49ers athletic department announced the television schedule for the 49ers women's basketball program, which features three non-conference and one Atlantic 10 Conference game. The 49ers will play UAB on the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN), South Carolina on SportsSouth, Notre Dame on ESPNU and Xavier on ESPN2. Charlotte is also hosting the 2009 Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Tournament in Halton Arena, March 6-9. The two A-10 Tournament semifinal games on March 8 will be broadcast on the CBS College Sports Network. The A-10 Tournament Championship game on March 9 will be broadcast on ESPN2.
The 49ers will get to showcase Halton Arena when they battle UAB at home on MASN on Friday, November 21 at 7 pm. Then, the 49ers face South Carolina on the road in a game that will be televised on SportsSouth, Sunday, December 21 at 1:30 pm. Charlotte will host 2008 Sweet Sixteen participant Notre Dame in Halton Arena in a game that will be broadcast on ESPN2, Sunday, December 28 at 2 pm. Then, Charlotte opens A-10 play at home on ESPN2 against Xavier, Sunday, January 11 at 12 pm.
The 49ers return eight letterwinners and four starters off their 2007-08 team which reached postseason play for a school-record sixth straight season. Charlotte begins the 2008-09 season in Raleigh, North Carolina at the Wolfpack Invitational, November 15-16. The 49ers tipoff the season against USC in the Wolfpack Invitational, Saturday, November 15.
