Charlotte, NC - Nicole Hargraves is a 6-foot-2 forward from Greensboro, North Carolina's Grimsley High School. She was a four-time All-Conference selection. She was also named to the Greensboro News and Record All-Area team three times. As a junior, she played an integral role in helping her team reach the state championship game. During her high school career, she helped Grimsley win three conference regular-season and three conference tournament championships. She finished her high school career with 960 points, 674 rebounds and 164 blocked shots.
Hargraves recently sat down with the Charlotte 49ers athletic media relations office to talk about her how her freshman year is going so far.
You have been at Charlotte for about six weeks, so how is it going? It's going good. I know the campus pretty well since I was here during the summer.
You worked out with the team over the summer as well as the last month and a half since the start of the fall semester. Do you feel like you are really a part of the team now? In the summer, the workouts were preparing me for the fall. Now, I have bonded with everyone so I'm glad that I went to summer school because it helped me out a lot.
You have only been here a couple of months, have there been any surprises or is everything going the way you thought it would? Everything is going the way I thought it would as far as things involving basketball.
What do you think your role on the team is going to be this season? I guess to be a versatile player on the court and help the 49ers win a lot of games.
Have you noticed a difference between playing at this level as opposed to high school basketball? Yes, it's very different. In college, there are bigger girls and the pace of the game is much faster than in high school.
Has it helped having three experienced players at your position (senior Danielle Burgin and juniors Erin Floyd and Ashley Spriggs)?
Watching Erin practice helps me a lot especially, during drills so I know what to do.

Can you give me your thought on our coaching staff? Coach Karen Aston is going to push me to be a better player. Assistant Coach Ken Griffin, who coaches the post players, is also going to help me become a better player.
