The Charlotte 49ers women's basketball team host SEC foe South Carolina in their home opener. Monday, November 16 at 7 pm in Halton Arena. Charlotte has won eight straight home openers and has a 26-8 all-time record in home openers.

The 49ers game against South Carolina will mark Charlotte's second game of the season. In the 49ers first game of the season at East Carolina, freshman Jennifer Hailey led Charlotte with 17 points which was the most points scored by a 49er in their collegiate debut since 2004. Seniors Erin Floyd and Aysha Jones each scored 12 points in the East Carolina game.

Last season, Charlotte defeated UAB, 79-57, in their home opener, November 21, 2008 to increase their home opening victory streak to eight straight. Aysha Jones led the 49ers in scoring in the UAB game with 22 points for her first career 20-point scoring game. The 49ers home opener against South Carolina is tied for the third earliest home opener in the program's history. The 49ers defeated Arkansas State, 76-65, November 10, 2006 for the earliest home opener in school history. The 49ers defeated Appalachian State, 78-66, in the second earlier home opener, November 11, 1998. The 49ers played their first home game for the 1997-98 and 2001-02 season on November 16.

This game will mark the 21st meeting between Charlotte and South Carolina. South Carolina leads the all-time series, 15-5. South Carolina defeated Charlotte 78-76 in their last meeting which was last season's at South Carolina, December 21, 2008. Aysha Jones and Shannon McCallum each scored 16 points to lead the 49ers in scoring in that game. South Carolina defeated the 49ers 84-67 in their last meeting in Halton Arena, December 14, 2003. The 49ers had five players score in double-figures in that game led by former 49ers standout Sakellie Daniels' 17 points.

Admission to the Charlotte-South Carolina game is $5 for adults and $2 for youth (17-and-under). Charlotte 49ers students are admitted free with a valid student ID.
