Charlotte, NC - Charlotte 49ers women's basketball's freshman forward Jennifer Hailey (Marshville, NC/Forest Hills HS) was awarded the first Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week award for the 2009-10 season for her performance at East Carolina last Friday.

Hailey nearly recorded her first career double-double in her first collegiate game with 17 points and nine rebounds in only 19 minutes of action at East Carolina. She went a perfect 6-for-6 from the field in the game. Hailey's 17 points is the most points scored by a 49er in their first collegiate game since Tameka Smith scored 20 points in her collegiate debut against North Carolina A&T, November 19, 2004.

Hailey is only the second 49ers women's basketball player to earn A-10 Rookie of the Week honors. Former 49er Wendy Stywalt was named A-10 Rookie of the Week, January 15, 2007.

Hailey and the rest of the 49ers women's basketball team returns to action at Appalachian State, Friday, November 19 at 7 pm.
