Charlotte, N.C. - With help from a Whitney Weinraub hat trick, the Charlotte 49ers made it two in a row with a convincing 8-0 victory over the visiting Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles at Transamerica Field.
After battling each other even for the first 19 minutes of the game, at the 19:02 mark of the first half, Nikki Labuda Czaplicki capitalized off a well placed corner kick by Sam Huecker and a pass from the head of Danielle Mayeaux to break the deadlock and make the score 1-0 as Czaplicki registered her first score of the season.
Exactly eight minutes later, Weinraub placed her first goal of the day top shelf in the right hand corner of the net off some fancy footwork to beat the defender to make the tally 2-0.
Weinraub would then score for the second time of the afternoon at the 32:59 mark off a long pass up the near sideline from Hailey Beam which Weinraub belted top shelf yet again to give the Niners a solid 3-0 lead.
With less than four minutes to go in the first half, freshman Macky Wingo rocketed a shot from 25 yards out over the outstretched hands of the Golden Eagles goalie to score her first career goal and give Charlotte a 4-0 halftime lead.
Coming out of the intermission, Charlotte wasted no time as they knocked in a pair of goals in the first two minutes of the half and opened up a commanding 6-0 lead.
Czaplicki scored the first of those two goals with a header rebound off an Oni Bernard shot and junior Hailey Beam knocked in the second goal of the half off a long pass from Whitney Bryant.

Weinraub would then score the final goal of the game at the 57:45 mark as she juked the defender and put it by the goalie to record the hat trick.
The Pennsylvania native's hat trick was only the ninth in 49er history with the last three goal performance coming against Marquette on October 11, 2002 when Courtney Crandell accomplished the feat.
Head Coach Jon Lipsitz described Weinraub's effort as "one of the best performances by a forward since I've been here."
Charlotte outshot Tech by a 23-2 margin on a blazing hot day at Transamerica Field.
Charlotte will now take to the road for nearly the entire month of September as they travel to Ohio State and Pittsburgh and also travel to Wake Forest to do battle with the Demon Deacons and Virginia Tech, but the difficult road slate doesn't seem to be a problem to Lipsitz and company.
"We have a tough road series coming up and we're could be underdogs in every game, but we don't mind, we're confident that if we play our game that we'll be very competitive," said Lipsitz.
Charlotte is next in action when they travel to Ohio State to do battle with the Buckeyes on Friday, September 5 at 7:30 p.m.
