Box Score

Charlotte, NC - Hailey Beam, Whitney Weinraub and Oni Bernard scored as the Charlotte 49ers women's soccer team remained perfect in the A-10 with a 3-0 victory over Saint Louis. With the win, the 49ers improved to 7-3-1 on the season and 3-0 in the A-10.

"Tonight was a total team victory," Charlotte coach Jon Lipsitz said. "We are rounding into an 11-person unit. We are also getting great play from our bench. A key to our success tonight was our amazing crowd."

Charlotte took control of the game with two goals in the first 13 minutes. Beam scored her team-leading ninth goal of the season when she headed in a Sam Huecker free kick in the ninth minute.

Weinraub quickly tied Beam for the team-lead with her ninth goal of the season in the 13th minute. Beam passed the ball inside the box to Bernard who found Weinraub on the left side of the goal. Weinraub then blasted a shot into the back of the net for the 49ers second goal of the game.

Beam's and Weinraub's ninth goals of the season respectively moved them into a tie with eight people for the sixth most goals in a season in the program's history.

Bernard closed out the scoring when she tapped in Jenna McKeon's long free kick in the 82nd minute. Bernard's goal was her fifth of the season.

The 49ers outshot Saint Louis 17-3. Jonna Handra and Weinraub led the 49ers with three shot apiece. Nikki Dumencich, Bernard and McKeon each tallied two shots apiece for the 49ers.

Charlotte also enjoyed a decided 15-1 advantage in corner kicks.

The 49ers defense led by goalkeeper Lauren Brown posted their fifth shutout of the season and their third shutout in their last four games. Brown's shutout was the 14th of her career.

Charlotte continues their three-game A-10 home stand when they host Temple at Transamerica Field, Friday, October 10 at 7 pm.
