Philadelphia, PA - The 25th-ranked Charlotte 49ers women's soccer team (14-2-1, A-10: 8-0-1) behind five different goal scorers and a stout defense blanked Temple (5-11-1, A-10: 1-8), 5-0, on the road to extend their unbeaten streak against A-10 foes to 25 games. Jonna Handra, Hailey Beam, Kirby Stenard, Macky Wingo and Whitney Weinraub scored goals for the 49ers.
"I was very pleased with our performance," Charlotte coach John Cullen said. "It was very windy today but we adapted very well to the conditions. It is always great to go on the road and have five different goal scorers and to be able to keep a clean sheet. We played our style today. We were really sharing and moving the ball around the field today."
Handra scored the game's first goal when she took a Weinraub pass and blasted the shot into the top left corner of the goal in the 16th minute. Handra's goal was her second of the season.
Beam made the score, 2-0, when she scored off a rebounded shot by Whitney Bryant in the 19th minute. Beam's goal was her ninth of the season and the 35th of her career. Beam is now one goal shy of Courtney Cook's school-record for career goals.
Stenard scored her seventh goal of the season when she put a Weinraub assist into the back of the net in the 33rd minute.
Wingo scored a goal in her second straight game when she corralled a loose ball in the box and put a shot over Temple's goalkeeper Kara Williams into the net in the 42nd minute.
