Charlotte, NC - The 25th-ranked Charlotte 49ers (13-2-1, A-10: 7-0-1) put their 24-game unbeaten streak against Atlantic 10 competition on the line this weekend when they battle Temple and Saint Joseph's on the road, October 23-25. First, the 49ers take on Temple, Friday, October 23 at 3 pm. Then, the 49ers conclude their weekend trip to Philadelphia when they face Saint Joseph's, Sunday, October 25 at 12 pm.

The 49ers enter the weekend as the top scoring team in the Atlantic 10 and one of top scoring teams in country. Charlotte ranks sixth in the nation in scoring at 3.06 goals per game. Fifteen 49ers have scored at least one goal this season led by Whitney Weinraub's Atlantic 10 leading 11 goals. The reigning A-10 Player of the Week Hailey Beam is second on the team and the A-10 with eight goals. She needs two goals to tie Courtney Cook's school-record 36 career goals. Kirby Stenard is third on the team with six goals. Reigning A-10 Rookie of the Week Lacey McGowan and Jenna McKeon are tied for fourth on the team with four goals apiece.

Beam leads the team and is second in the A-10 with 10 assists. Last weekend, she contributed on five of Charlotte's six goals with a goal and four assists. Sam Huecker and Oni Bernard are tied for second on the team with seven assists apiece.

The 49ers defense behind the play of goalkeeper Lauren Brown and defenders Katie Davies, Whitney Bryant, Danielle Mayeaux and Megan Minnix have recorded 11 shutouts and have only allowed 12 goals all season.

 

 

Friday's game will be the fourth meeting between Charlotte and Temple. The 49ers have won all three previous meetings including a 1-0 win at home last season, October 10.

Sunday's game will be the fourth meeting Charlotte and Saint Joseph's. The 49ers have won all three previous meetings including a 8-0 win at home last season, October 12.
