Sophomore outfielder Serena Smith and freshman Kendra McCall led the team with two hits apiece, while senior outfielder Emily Forbes collected one on the day.

Hofstra jumped to an early lead, scoring one run in each of the second and third innings, before laying it on heavy in the top of the fifth, scoring three runs on three hits, including a two-run homer. The 49ers attempted to answer late in the inning with Malene's RBI, but failed to capitalize, allowing Hofstra to score one more security run in the top of the seventh to take the game.

They were joined defensively by sophomore first baseman Keri Palma with nine putouts, freshman catcher Tenaya Tucker with four and Malene with three to match her three assists.
