Whitney Williams Named A-10 Co-Rookie of the Week

Charlotte, N.C. - After averaging .429 with six hits, four runs and an RBI to lead Charlotte to a 4-0 week, outfielder Whitney Williams was named Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week, league officials announced Monday. On Sunday, the freshman notched the game-winning RBI in the late game of the 49ers' doubleheader sweep of conference foe St. Bonaventure, allowing Charlotte to take the 6-4 win off a single to centerfield.
Williams, who has collected 10 RBI on the season, is now ranked third on the team in average (.299) and sixth in slugging percentage (.377).
Williams and the rest of the 49ers take on No. 16 North Carolina in doubleheader action Wednesday at 4 p.m. at D.L. Phillips Softball Complex.
